The winter season offers its magic to brides, from romantic and intimate to holiday sparkle to snowflake filled fantasy. (And we can’t forget all the engagements that happen over the holiday season!) Let’s talk about how to choose dates for the celebration…
November
With mild temperatures and predictably sunny days, November is a desirable time of year to get married in NC! Temps hover around the 60s. Foliage colors hang during the first two weeks of which makes a perfect setting for dark and moody palettes — you can be elegant, dramatic, or sultry. There are lots options for unique florals in November.
A Thanksgiving wedding has its pluses and minuses – it is a time of family gathering, and so may be the perfect time for a more intimate wedding with family when combined with Thanksgiving Day. However, it may be tricky to plan for a large number of friends and acquaintances when those wanting to attend already have family plans. Tho the weekend after Thanksgiving is a popular day for weddings since so many people have extended time off from work.
December
As the season of light gets into full swing, December can be an ideal time for a wedding! For one, December weddings are easier to book since fewer weddings are held that month. Second, everyone is already in a holiday celebratory mood!
December weddings can be intimate, cozy affairs with a fireplace for ambiance and decadent desserts. Or it can be a grand celebration filled with holiday cheer and lots of bling. December weddings in the gorgeous venues of the Triangle that are lit up for the holidays can be an exceptional experience. This means fun decor you don’t have to buy (but don’t leave out the flowers!).
New Year’s Eve
Pop the champagne! I have done New Year’s Eve weddings and the excitement and anticipation of the day and evening enhance the nuptial experience! Exchanging vows as the ball drops can be a magical experience. It has been a pretty popular date among brides (I have 2 that day this year!), but if you find the venue, we can do the flower magic!
January
Yes! January can be the perfect time for a wedding in the Triangle! This is decidedly ‘winter’ weather for NC – jackets and mittens, snow (though it melts quickly) and cool temps (40s and 50s). Hot chocolate, warm cider, and of course, that burning fireplace. (We can also create that fireplace-feel with tons and tons of candles if your venue doesn’t have a typical mantle & flame.) A ‘winter wonderland’ wedding can be a delight!
